THE POSITIVES
I needed a jigsaw for a small project though I didn’t expect to use the saw often, so I didn’t want to overpay. So I decided to buy this puzzle after reading many good reviews. It easily handled the initial job I bought it for and since then I’ve found many projects I could use it for, many of which I wouldn’t even consider without a saw.

The saw is lightweight and has virtually no vibration. So far I’ve only used it for straight cuts in 3/4″ thick plywood. I just got a cat door carved into one of my interior doors. Then, after drilling the pilot hole, it took less than 60 seconds to cut the entire hole. It was surprisingly accurate and easy to stay on the ruler mark.

I used a cheap saw from a port cargo. I didn’t realize how awful the first one was until I got this one. The B&D cuts straight and is very easy to use.

More Useful Than I Thought

It doesn’t feel like the best built quality at first, but it goes on. I bought it to make major cuts to outdoor furniture. Quite honestly, I didn’t think it would last long, but when I got it, it was useful more often than I thought.

It shakes, but for the price, I don’t know how you can beat it. I confess, I’m a DIY fanatic sometimes, but I’m also a bargain hunter. I used this yesterday as part of a door frame and molding replacement project.

The project could not have been completed without the Black and Decker Jigsaw Smart Select. I also bought a T-blade from Bosch. Just pushing it in can tear the wood in the blink of an eye, but it’s a bit rough. Go slow. Accelerate and you’re ready to go.

It Died!

I’ve had this puzzle for 1 year and 4 days and have only used it a few times. Then, I used it today and it pinged internally and died. I love this saw, but it should last more than a year. I contacted Black and Decker. Black & Decker immediately sent me a replacement saw.

An extremely durable cutter suitable for those with little experience.

The saw has a quick blade attachment system that simply requires lowering the front arm and inserting the blade. Also, I found that the T-blades, U-blades and old masters all worked and were in place. On the other hand, the shoes are not the best but OK for the money.

Mine wasn’t 0 to 100% accurate and wasn’t easy to set up. The shoe uses preset slots to define 0 degrees, 45 degrees, etc. You cannot move the shoe to find a specific angle and lock it in that position. In any case, this is not a problem for me as I only use circular saws for flat cuts at 0 or 90 degrees.

Enough Power

The jigsaw is equipped with a 5.0 amp motor that provides enough power to cut a variety of materials, while an adjustable base and beveling shoe provide versatility and precision. Smart Select technology makes it easy to choose the right speed and settings for your project.

I have had it for about 2 years. I have used it about 20 times for small cuts. Cut thickness from 75 to 1.5 inches. It works fine and there are no issues to report.

It has enough strength for my main building components: plywood and 1-inch pinewood. Also had no problems with several 2x4s I cut out. This is a handy little saw.

THE NEGATIVES
It cuts great. My biggest problem is when I start the saw, the vibration causes the angle adjustment screw to come loose, unlocking and moving side to side when I don’t want it to. You must continue tightening the screws. It took 60 exact 6-inch parallel cuts on some pine trees.

I checked the saw with a square and found that it lined up nicely with the “0” of the base. However, the problem for me is that I want the blade to move, so I have to rotate the back of the device a few degrees so that the device follows the line I want to cut. So I have to be very, very careful when cutting. In general, it’s still a good block if you can compromise for money.

Dust in My Eyes

I tried a left cut depending on how my lumber is in the clamps. All the exhaust from the engine flew into my eyes along with all the dust. You cannot direct the flow like you can with some pneumatic tools. That would be great, but that would increase the price of this device. Not a complaint, just information for lefties.

The emergency switch is sticking very badly and will probably need to be fixed. This continues because the safety button engages and requires several pulls of the trigger to work.

Dust Collector?

I was surprised to see a dust collector on the back. It’s actually just a hole for a vacuum cleaner, with a small half-hole-shaped area on the front that sucks up dust. However, because of the swamp exhaust, all the dust flew to the front right, so I didn’t feel a big difference when using it with or without a vacuum cleaner. Nice try, but not very functional.

Pull the trigger to control the speed, but dangerous situations can happen. Make sure your fingers are away from the trigger when raising or lowering the saw and when holding the saw. This is because the trigger is very sensitive and the blade moves at the slightest touch. Not exactly my favorite, but you can get used to it. I drilled a few holes in the workbench because I pulled the trigger a little when I first put it down.

IN SUMMARY

With 4-5 star reviews standing at 94% as opposed to 1-3 star reviews standing at 7%, this is an overwhelmingly popular jigsaw.

There is a small risk you will have issues with the lineup, loose components, and sensitive controls.

Final verdict:

  • Extremely versatile
  • Generally easy to use
  • Reasonable maneuverability and accuracy
  • Good value for money

BLACK & DECKER SMART SELECT JIGSAW UNBOXING

One of the reasons I chose Black and Decker is because there are 6 options. Options like cutting tracks which have PVC, there are metal, there are 2×4 plywood sheets.

Let’s open it. First impression is that the box is very fancy. Black and Docker haven’t changed much. Available in orange and black. So far so good and the packaging and quality have improved. It’s kind of a tricky box. It’s kind of locked.

There’s cardboard and here’s a nice protective plastic bag. There’s an instruction manual and warranty card. Of course it comes very well packaged in this box. Let’s go directly to the features of this. My impression is the quality of the plastic, real heavy duty. There is a security guard, it seems to be made of aluminum or thick metal. Pull the trigger on it. Very pleasant, like hard plastic.

How Easy Is It?

Directly, straight or sideways on the plywood. PVC and steel or aluminum are also available. I guess today we’ll go straight to the side with the pieces from plywood. It is so easy to get what you want. Kind of that level. And that’s zero. It’s also very convenient. They are numbered as follows:

Angles from 0 to 15 to 30 to 45 degrees. For the purposes of this video, we’ll set this back to zero. Now you have a safe. I think I can store up to 3 saw blades. We have a speedwood blade. Let’s see how easy it is to put this right there. If you press this button and pull this button up, you can slide straight. Let’s do it. This is amazing. Let’s close this.

That’s Amazing

It looks pretty thick like a commercial grain. It has only 2 teeth. Yes, this trial is consistent with what they invented and promised there. I already have an extension cord. Connect this right now. Try it. Sounds like a monster. Let’s cut this plywood and see what happens. Do you know what PPE is?

In my video this is the most important part. Give me the goggles. Better to be safe than sorry. Wow, that’s amazing. Here’s a really good puzzle. You made a great cut. I couldn’t ask for more. It’s a really amazing tool compared to cheaper tools.

If you are looking for a good puzzle, this black is highly recommended. Variable trajectory puzzle and there’s a great selection knob.
